Reverse Aging Naturally, Part 1by Nancy Hearn, CNC Since ancient times, people have searched for the fountain of youth (some magical food, potion or device) that would help them live longer. Is it possible to slow down or even reverse the aging process? To answer this question, we need to first understand the process of aging. There are certainly many factors, but in this article I will discuss one of the known causes of aging―free-radical damage. Free-Radical DamageMillions of metabolic processes are occurring within our bodies all the time. These processes require oxygen and can create harmful by-products called free radicals, which are known to cause cellular damage. We have learned from decades of research that free-radical damage is a major cause of aging, as well as the pain, fatigue, and other symptoms associated with aging. When free radicals interact with cellular DNA, they can have serious consequences, such as cancer and heart disease. Our body is designed to handle a certain amount of free radicals. But when free-radical production becomes excessive or prolonged, damage will most likely occur and health will deteriorate. Most of us are exposed to a number of free-radical sources daily. Some of these include:
Neutralizing Free Radicals with AntioxidantsYou can begin to boost your immunity and neutralize free radicals by eating an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as nuts, seeds sprouted grains, and other foods that are high in fiber. These same foods are high in a class of nutrients called antioxidants, especially vitamins A, C, E, as well as the minerals zinc and selenium. White meat, tuna, lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, onions and garlic are high in the amino acids cysteine and glutathione, which are another great source of antioxidants. Many fruits are high in antioxidants, especially the “super berries,” such as seabuckthorn, goji, acai, noni, and amalaki, which are often formulated as nutritional beverages and available at most health food stores. Unfortunately, most drinking water is acidic (including reverse osmosis and distilled) and therefore accelerates the process of oxidation and aging. This is significant since our body is on average 70% water. But there is a solution. According to Dr. Hidemitsu Hayashi, heart surgeon and Director of the Water Institute of Japan, “Water treated by electrolysis to increase its reduction potential is the best solution to the problem of providing a safe source of free electrons to block the oxidation of normal tissue by free oxygen radicals.” This type of water is also referred to as micro-water, ionized water, alkaline water, or Kangen Water™. Kangen Water™ is alkaline-rich water (pH 8.5-9.5) and is considered the very best drinking water because of its incomparable powers of hydration, detoxification, and anti-oxidation.
